With the continuous improvement of living standards, the rapid progress of urbanization becomes an act of saying goodbye to the past lifestyle. My piece, “Continuously Kicking a Stone into the Lake”, is by itself a seemingly boring act. Kicking a pebble found on a construction site into the lake is looking for a destination while walking aimlessly. Behind the scenes, we can see the changes in cities and the continuous transformation of human beings, as well as the ecological changes and sacrifices humans decide to make for their own needs. Parents migrate from the countryside to the city, hoping that their children can abandon old customs and live better lives. I am a person who can't even speak the dialect of my hometown. I don't know the past of this city, and I have never even been to many places that are within walking distance. I wonder if the direction of the human individual and the city points towards finding the origin or abandoning it.
