The story is based on my daily life with a strong feature of retro. There are two
reasons. First, the clothing and modeling reflect my aesthetic preference at that
time (the retro style in the 70’s and 80’s of China) and the aesthetic influence of
Beijing, my permanent residence city on me. Second, the old sense comes from
the “mirror image” printed by an old machine. I painted the whole set of work
on the backside of the paper and you may see the mottling of the oil mark from
the front side. Such this painting method has reflected my mentality. Although I’m
optimistic and have a bright character, the terrible experience still infiltrated into
my memory.
